Adult Study Classes

9am Inductive Study of Luke

with Larry Engel--Room 104C

The early bird gets the worm in this class!  Join a dynamic sharing experience from the study of the book of Luke.  Receive and share the blessings offered through study, prayer, and fellowship.  Connect with the Biblical messages and share your thinking.  The book of Luke offers rich insights for us today!  Pastor Larry Engel is a long-time pastor, ministerial director, and missionary.  He is an engaging presenter and creative thinker.

10am Adult Quarterly Class

with Amos Cooper, John Nosworthy & Jerry Jones--Room 104F

This class studies the Bible in-depth through the use and guidance of the Adult Sabbath School Quarterly used in Seventh-day Adventist churches around the world.  Currently the study is on Origins. The class is inspirational, Christ-centered, and encourages lively discussion. Attendees include young singles, couples, middle-ages and senior citizens.
Pastor Cooper is a retired pastor.  His hobbies include working in the yard, visiting family and bird-watching all over the world.

10am Along Life’s Pathway

with Leona Gulley, Vikki Garst, & others--Room 104D 

This class is for those who wish to build relational connections and who want to experience personal growth and spiritual insight. Attendees of any age are welcome.  Topics covered focus on understanding relationships and resolving problems the Biblical way. Currently the class is discussing Hiding From Love by Dr. John Townsend, using the book by that title and a DVD series. Class members enjoy hearing from each other about their struggles and growth while connecting with others on more than just an intellectual level.  Potlucks, working on projects together, emails, and socials are some of the tools used in relationship building.  Class members love to see members establish healthy relationships through a closer connection with God and church life. Leona Gulley and Vikki Garst are experienced small-group leaders.

10am Final Events

with Norman R. Gulley & Richard D'Avanzo --Room 203

The aim of this class is to prepare for final events on planet earth, and to provide inspiration and encouragement through biblical teaching and music. Each class begins with prayer requests and prayer time. Class members no longer fear final events as they focus on Christ—not the crisis—while learning how to be ready for what is coming. People of all ages attend and also enjoy a group potluck every other month.

Dr. Gulley is Research Professor in Systematic Theology at Southern Adventist University. He has taught last day events for many years, and written books on the topic which are translated into Spanish and Russian. Dr. D’Avanzo is a Counselor who has made the study of last-day events a focus for many years.

10am Friendship Class

with Jim Lewellen, Larry Engel, Krystal Weaver & Jason Skiwski --Room 104C

Those who attend this class appreciate the opportunity to share their ideas, comments and ask questions in a non-threatening environment. The current topic is on Steps to Christ.  The class opens by hearing from other class members about how his/her week went and any praises or prayer requests. These are written down and shared with the class via email. Class soup-suppers and campouts are regular happenings.

10am The Simple Life

with Roy Edwards and Helmut Ott Room--Room 104A

Finding a simple life is necessary to the development of a spiritual life. Establishing priorities and growing with Christ is the process with which we practice Christianity. We are looking at four real life issues of conducting today’s life: Time, Relationships, Money and God. Our method of creating a simple spiritual life is to apply Charity, Movement or (change), Alignment and Focus of purpose to these selected personal issues. We are desirous of developing personal accountability to these issues while practicing growing with Christ and victories.

Roy Edwards is a retired professor of medical physics, and Elder and lay pastor.

10am In the Word

with Jim Kelly, Andrew Knecht, Tony Leeseberg, Phillip Neal & John McCoy --Room 104B

This class is a bible study for those of any age who desire to go where Jesus and the Holy Spirit leads. Each week a class Facilitator leads a study that is open to all for comments and learning. The more input from the class the better, as we journey deeper into the rich knowledge of the Bible. This class studies at the pace of the attendees. We have no time line and make it a point to stay in the Word and be led by the Holy Spirit. We hope that this class will spread the love and understanding of Jesus. Each week our aim is to fall deeper in love with Him.

10am Ladies SS Fellowship

with Rhonda Atkins & Roseanne Tsui --Room 208
This class is especially offered for women who desire to find encouragement and support with the situations they face in life.  The class is flexible enough for ladies to enjoy study of the lesson in the Sabbath School quarterly, or to merely share and pray for one another and praise God for His blessings.  Come enjoy a period of rejuvenation, thought stimulation, and uplifting from the many responsibilities of life.  This class is led by Rhonda Atkins who is a social worker, and Roseanne Tsui, a Christian counselor.  Both love to assist ladies with their needs.

10am People in the Bible

with Ken DeFoor and Leon Mashchak--Room 218
This class currently is studying the life, contribution, and concerns of people in the Bible, focusing on a different person each week. All are invited to join in a lively discussion of many prominent people as their lives are portrayed in the Bible. This is a class that all can relate to and in which individuals can gain confidence in their own journey through life. This class anticipates transitioning to another topic shortly. Ken Defoor is in local business and Leon Mashchak is a retired religion teacher.

10am Seekers (30-somethings)

with Richard Elvin and friends--Room 104E
This class is for young adults in the age range of 30 and above.  The class focuses on making Christianity real.  Topics will be decided on by the class.

10am Young Adults

with Trever and Tina Ehrlich--Room 104G&H

Sabbath School for Young Adults (20's and 30's) at the Collegedale Community Church. Join us for singing and study.

11.30am Spanish Speaking SS Class

with Felicia Phillips--Room 218
All Spanish-speaking individuals and those who would like to learn Spanish are encouraged to attend this class which is using the current Spanish Sabbath School Quarterly.  The class meets for the comfort of the Spanish-speaking population and all those who would like to learn Spanish.  Members seek to fellowship, understand scripture and build relationships within the body of God.  Leading the class is Felicia Phillips, a dynamic experienced teacher, missionary, and committed Christian.
